Nas Confirms New Album
Celebrating his old music inspired Nas to get back into the studio and crank out some new material. God's Son confirmed that he is working on a new album, and it was the 20th anniversary of his Illmatic debut that pushed him back into a creative space.
The Queens MC started work on the new project with Timbaland in 2012, he revealed to NPR. "I started working with Tim, I want to say a year and a half ago. I think it was the same year I dropped my last album,Life Is Good," he said. "It felt really powerful; it felt like it was really powerful, and I stepped back from it. Tim's like, 'What are you doing?' and I'm like, 'I just need a minute to — I just need a minute to take it all in, just live a little and enjoy day-by-day stuff and daily stuff I'm doing.' It's just — I didn't want to go back in the studio that quick. I felt like I needed to be inspired."
It wasn't until this year that his music impulse was reignited. Besides hitting the road to commemorateIllmatic and an anniversary-edition LP of the 1994 release, Nas helped premiere the documentary Time Is Illmatic at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City last week. Watching the film helped him get back into the swing of things.
"It wasn't 'til then that I really started to feel it. 'Cause I got a chance — and I gotta give credit to the documentary guys," shared the 40-year-old. "Them showing me the footage and stuff really like — it really lets you know where you come from and everything, and where you at now. I salute them dudes, man — One9, Erik Parker, the whole crew over there that's put that film together — because that's helped me find the inspiration. I found it."
In addition to Timbo, producers Swizz Beatz and No I.D. are helping on Nas's musical journey. Although he didn't narrow down a date, Mr. Jones said that he's "charged" up to create again. "Two years I think it's been, since my last album. So this new one ... I'm happy to get it together and get it out there," he said.
As of February 2013, Life Is Good sold 354,000 copies and Illmatic has seen a reprisal on the Billboard charts this week. The 20-year-old record pushed 14,987 copies this week, giving it an 844 percent bump from the week before.

Decomisan 600 kilos de cocaína
Un cargamento de aproximadamente 600 kilos de cocaína fue decomisado la noche del lunes en una lancha rápida en aguas internacionales con rumbo a las costas de Barahona, al sur del país, en el que fueron apresados un colombiano y un dominicano, por miembros de la Guardia Costera de Estados Unidos, debido a la oportuna colaboración de inteligencia de los distintos organismos antidrogas estadounidense, colombiano y dominicano.
El vocero de la DNCD, Miguel Medina, informó que durante la operación de interdicción de la lancha rápida, que se llevó a cabo a las 10:00 de la noche, fueron apresados los dos sujetos que viajaban a bordo de la embarcación “Gost Fast”, quienes transportaban las 24 pacas de cocaína procedente de Sudamérica.
La agencia antidroga precisó que de los dos apresados fueron identificados como Andrés Berroa, de nacionalidad colombiana, y Juan Carlos Feliz, de nacionalidad dominicana.
Medina indicó que el alijo de cocaína y los dos hombres apresados serán trasladados por las autoridades estadounidenses hacia la ciudad de Tampa, Florida, donde serán sometidos a la justicia.

La Autoridad Metropolitana de Transporte (AMET) informó hoy que un cabo de la Policía, adscrito a esa institución, devolvió un sobre con RD$100 mil en efectivo, a su propietario, el cual terminaba de retirarlo de una sucursal bancaria.
El director de AMET, general Juan Gerónimo Brown Pérez, anunció que “ese miembro será reconocido por su honradez y buen comportamiento”, según informó la institución en un comunicado.
El propietario del dinero es el ingeniero Horacio R. Álvarez, funcionario del Centro de Exportaciones e Inversión de la República Dominicana (CEI-RD).
La nota indica que el cabo José de los Santos encontró el dinero en la venida Rómulo Betancourt esquina Privada, en la capital, poco después de que el señor Álvarez se desmotara de su automóvil para ingresar a otra sucursal bancaria para pagar una tarjeta de crédito. “Este hecho es una muestra evidente de honradez y seriedad incuestionable”, dijo Álvarez.
“En ese momento, quizás por la agradable sorpresa y sentimiento de gratitud, le expresé al agente de los Santos mi deseo de ofrecerle una gratificación, a lo que respondió que de ninguna manera puedo aceptarlo. Esa es parte de nuestras atribuciones y compromiso al servicio de la ciudadanía”, agregó el funcionario.
Y agregó que “agentes de los Santos dignifican el uniforme de esa institución (de AMET y la de la Policía) y por consiguiente deben servir de ejemplo para sus demás compañeros y para toda la sociedad dominicana”. Álvarez le remitió una comunicación al director de AMET, vía su oficial de prensa, Roberto Lebrón.
“Todavía existen personas serias y honorables en nuestro país que debemos valorar en su justa dimensión y por consiguiente estimularlas con un reconocimiento público para que en el futuro ese tipo de actuaciones no queden en el anonimato”, puntualizó el ejecutivo del CEI-RD.
